PAUL BIYA RE-ELECTED AS CAMEROONIAN PRESIDENT AFTER 28 YRS

It might interest you to learn that on Oct. 9 Paul Biya, 78, was re-elected as the president of Cameron. This was in continuation of a post he grabbed 28 years ago. A report reaching my news desk confirms he was voted by 77% of the electorates. This places him alongside other long-serving African autocrats including Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe and Teodoro Obiang of Equatorial Guinea. The country’s constitution was amended to scrap term limits in February 2008.

Dear reader, could it possibly mean that Cameroonians are in love with this President who “spends much of his time in holidays either in the Intercontinental Hotel in Geneva or in his village. He hardly ever holds a Cabinet meeting. He doesn't even seem to recognize some of the Cabinet members he himself has appointed.” Maybe, there is a very weak opposition party to ignite a revolution. But believe me in no distant time the political history of Libya will be re-enacted in Cameron and it will be the start of another political revolution.
